Fantasy vs. Real Life

So now that you are motivated to start setting some goals for your life, you look around and see everyone else's "perfect" life, and you quit before you even get started taking action! I understand how you feel! Remember yesterday that I admitted I am a perfectionist? Well sometimes the problem with being a perfectionist and trying to set some goals is that I procrastinate! Then when I start comparing, I begin despairing! Do you know what social media is? "It is where everyone knows your status, but it is none of their business!" That is not an original idea! I heard that in a Hallmark movie! LOL

Let's shift our thought processes. Let's build slowly so that we can gain some momentum. Let's remember that our thoughts define who we are and who we become. "For as he thinks in his heart, so is he." (Proverbs 23:7) Let's personalize what we want our lives to be and stop comparing to others. For example, the woman I mentioned in a previous blog, who was doing a webinar on minimalism, showed some pictures of her house. Sure there was no clutter, nothing on the counters, bare walls, but that is not what I want my house to look like when I am done decluttering. We have to define who we are as a person first, then decide where we want to go, who we want to be, and then figure out the steps we need to get us there.

For me, I need to build some more routines into my daily schedule. I have a cleaning schedule, and I would like to stick to it this year! I also will be continuing to declutter my home. No, not like the minimalistic lady, but at the very least I would like to get rid of the "stuff" that has accumulated over the past 5-10 years since all of our children have moved out! I remember that I do not want to portray a "fantasy" life, but I want to embrace the lifestyle that fits me.

Let me know what you think and what some of your goals are for 2018. Tomorrow I will share a few of mine!
