Goal setting

The start of a new year, month, week, and even day is a time to pause and reflect, then set some intentions and goals for the future. "Don't look back, you're not going that way" is a good idea, and also "...but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal..." (Philippians 3:13-14) I was surprised, in looking back at some goals that I had written down for last week, how little I had accomplished, nor had I checked much off my to-do-list. I had  become distracted and side-tracked. What in the world is my problem?

In listening to a "minimalistic lifestyle" webinar today, I was able to get the answer that question. I am a perfectionist! I am overwhelmed with clutter, life, distractions, etc. and I have no idea where to start, so I leave every project I start unfinished. I am more frustrated than ever because I feel that if I do not accomplish "X, Y, and Z", I have failed, and if I don't accomplish all of them perfectly, I have just fulfilled my "I am a failure" self-prophecy!

So now that I know what my problem is, how do I "reach forward' and "press toward the goal"? WHAT steps do I need to take to accomplish some goals, and what mindset do I need to adjust? HOW do I maximize my time towards a decluttered home, that is a better reflection of WHO I am? WHERE do I start? WHEN will I know that I am "done"?

These are scary questions, but I am hoping that by taking some baby steps forward, one at a time, I will be able to accomplish big things in 2018! Remember that "small hinges swing big doors"!

For the next four days, I will be sharing with you all some practical tips on goal setting and decluttering. Stay tuned, leave me comments regarding your goals for this year, and feel free to share this with your friends!

Have a blessed day!
