New Year 2018

Today I changed the name of my Facebook page, Hickory Hill Haven to Be In Health in order to better reflect my direction in a coaching practice! It has been almost 1 year since I became a certified health coach.  I  actually received my certification on my 59th birthday, however spending time with and caring for my Mom, who was in later stages of Parkinson's disease,  took priority over coaching. Mom made her heavenly homeward journey on Oct. 25, and I have since been taking some time off to grieve, practice self care, and get refocused.

At the start of a new year it is a good practice to reflect on the past, make some decisions, and come up with a plan to move forward in the days ahead. Many people make "resolutions", but often don't stick with their plans, usually because they didn't make SMART goals, i.e. "specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time-bound".This is where having a health coach comes in handy, someone who can help you clarify the direction in which you would like to go, offer suggestions, and then keep you accountable.

I  chose the name Be In Health from the Bible verse 3 John 2, "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers." This new name describes my desire to help others as a "Body/Mind/Spirit Advocate". Each of our lives are shaped by our personal life experiences, and as we navigate through life, having mentors who understand our difficulties, hurts, and problems is reassuring, when we feel uncertain, alone, and afraid.

I am also in the process of becoming a certified Tai Chi instructor, teaching adult dance fitness classes, and continuing to study various aspects of coaching the "Big 5", faith, family/relationships, health, career/calling, finances. Remember, how you do one is how you do the others!

The choices we make, the opportunities we take,... I heard yesterday that "fear is temporary, but regrets are forever." What are you waiting for? Why not make 2018 one of the healthiest, happiest years of your life? You cannot change what happens TO you, but you can change YOUR ATTI-TUDE!

Blessings!
